“And that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”
There is a familiar phrase that says “Clothes make the man.” Clothing can tell some things about a person. For example, sometimes, by looking at someone’s clothing, you can tell if they are neat or not. If the person is always wrinkled, you can assume that the person is always late or not concerned about what people think of their appearance. Sometimes by a person’s clothing, you can figure out what they do for a living. A person’s uniform generally matches what they do for a living. As it is in the physical, so it is in the spiritual. By putting on the “new man” which is putting on Christ, we are showing people what we do for a living. We are living for Christ. We have quit our old job of living and working for the enemy. We have taken off the “old man” uniform and put on the uniform of righteousness and holiness of Christ Jesus. With this “new man” uniform it entitles us to some things we didn’t get wearing our “old man uniform.” We get benefits! We get name cards or keys that give us authority and access, Matthew 16:19. We get things like health insurance, Isaiah 53:5. We get life insurance, John 10:28. We get retirement, John 14:2. God created a position just for you in Genesis 1:26. This is nepotism at its best. You are a company man. You are a company woman. And guess what, you are about to be promoted! This week, be proud of what you are wearing. That “new man” looks good on you!
Be blessed and be encouraged!
