As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” Mark 5:36
It cannot be overstated how important your faith is to your problems being worked out. Here we see Jairus going to Jesus in need for a miracle. Jairus needs Jesus to do what is impossible with man. He needs Jesus to heal his gravely sick daughter. Matters get worse because news is sent from the home of Jairus that his daughter is now dead. Seeing and hearing all that is going on, the Lord’s word to Jairus is “Do not be afraid; only believe.” What is interesting is that the correct translation of that is to “keep believing.” That actually gives that statement greater meaning. It is saying “Although the situation has gotten worse, don’t stop believing!” Believers of God, if you were not aware, I’m here to let you know that sometimes things will get worse before they get better. Sometimes a sick relationship will get to the edge of death. Just don’t stop believing. I’m a witness to the fact that even if my situation goes from bad to worse, I still get the best of God. What is a common thing in this account and the one of Jesus healing the woman with the blood issue for 12 years right before this is that both were a matter of faith. Jesus tells the woman, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” Jesus tells Jairus “Do not be afraid; only believe.” Your level of believing determines your level of receiving! So no matter how great or small the problem, no matter to what degree it gets to, don’t stop believing. Do not be afraid; only believe.
